Inspirational Tip
“Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.”
Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) Italian Scientist, Artist and Mathematician
Performance Tip
How do you like to receive information? Some people prefer to receive ‘big picture’ and the reasons why a project is going to be occurring. Others like to receive detail, they want specifics on exactly what they need to do as part of the project.
If you show, tell or give specific information to someone who prefers to receive a ‘big picture’ overview, it can put them into overwhelm or confusion.
If you give, tell or show the ‘big picture’ or global perspective to someone who prefers detail, it can be distracting and may even be irrelevant. They just don’t need it.
These preferences work like a continuum so some people can want the big picture first and then the details and some the details and then how it fits into the bigger picture.
At all times and especially during the busy holiday season, to ensure peak performance and clarity in your team, only give them the information they need. You’ll save both of you time, avoid frustration and increase communication. And guaranteed your team will thank you for that!
Wishing you and all those special to you a very happy Christmas, and a wonderful 2008!
Thankyou for your support of our business in 2007.
Have a happy holiday!
